China’s new administration marked its third anniversary three days after KAPSARC’s Reforming China’s Energy Economy workshop held on November 12, 2015.This administration has voiced its intent to enact sweeping and wide-ranging reforms that will reshape both China’s economy and its society. The workshop picked up on a range of ideas raised in earlier workshops and looked at the reform agenda as it relates to energy, including:
- Is there a consensus in China around the need for energy sector reform?
- What has been successfully reformed so far?
- What still needs to be reformed and what are the goals being sought?
- What are the political hurdles to reform, and can they be navigated?
