About
Raed Al-Mestneer is a Fellow in the Oil and Gas team at KAPSARC and an economist specializing in industrial development, economic diversification, and econometric modeling. Dr. Raed is serving in South Africa G20 presidency as the (lead) co-chair of the T20 Task Force on Accelerating Climate Action and the Just Energy Transition. He has worked extensively with econometric modeling techniques, particularly in oil prices and oil demand. Before joining KAPSARC, he worked at Standard & Poor’s and Capital IQ in New York, where he designed the first probability of default model tailored to the Saudi economy. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Southern Illinois University and contributes to KAPSARC’s long-term sectoral oil demand forecasts and economic diversification projects.
