KAPSARC is co-hosting a Local Content in the Extractives Sector: Insights for New Producing Countries workshop on September 5 in collaboration with the African Development Bank's African Natural Resources Center (ANRC) and the OCP Policy Center (OCPPC).While there is a growing array of literature on local content in the oil and gas sector, the mining sector has also seen calls from politicians and civil society organizations to emphasize localization in development activities.
The workshop seeks to generate insights about creating local content from mining, oil and gas. New case studies from mineral-producing countries will be shared by ANRC and OCPPC and recent research about local content in Eastern Africa presented and discussed.
