KAPSARC held its first workshop on Demography and Energy on October 21, 2014 in Washington, DC. The event focused on understanding potential impacts of demographic change and the dynamics of household composition on the future supply and demand of energy.Workshop participants included representatives from the World Bank, the US Census Bureau, the World Demographic and Ageing Forum, the American Enterprise Institute, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, and the Peterson Institute for International Economics – among many others.The workshop participants focused on the importance of household composition and formation, migration (internationally and intranationally), and the implication of different approaches to long-term demographic forecasts for understanding future energy markets.
