KAPSARC is committed to achieving the highest international sustainability standards across our facility design, construction, operations, and maintenance procedures. Through innovative energy management, the Center has reduced its energy usage by 35% by conducting annual energy audits that identify and implement low-cost energy conservation measures. Additionally, KAPSARC has optimized water consumption, reducing it by 30% by employing advanced tools such as a weather-based irrigation system, micro-irrigation, mulching, native plant planting, and efficient faucets.

KAPSARC’s dedication to sustainability has been recognized with five Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certificates from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2021 and 2022. These certifications were awarded under the Existing Building: Operation and Maintenance (EBOM) rating system, with KAPSARC achieving over 80 points. Notably, KAPSARC’s facilities remain the only buildings in Saudi Arabia to receive LEED-EBOM Platinum certification.

KAPSARC has implemented a comprehensive waste management program to support its sustainability goals. In 2021, the Center successfully diverted 94% of its solid waste from landfill through rigorous waste stream audits. These efforts included eliminating single-use goods and developing an effective waste segregation strategy across multiple stages. This commitment to recycling and waste reduction is a key part of KAPSARC’s broader sustainability initiatives.
